everybody and their mama is shocked. from spiegel to bild to whomever else. i myself believe it’s close to a masterpiece. but i do see the danger it can cause. young migrants all over the world will love it though. it shows what they do.
they feel understood by the vid. in less than a month you’ll see the first dudes with the jackets on streets, acting tough. then, they will ban the jackets. mark my words. as if banning music or jackets would solve ANY problems. oh well. you cant blame the music for it. the tune is killing it! (no pun intedended) at first, i thought it would’ve been cooler, if they had some kind of twist in it. like, the moral of the story. like the last scenes in la haine, maybe. or in menace. but then again: these moral scenes have never prevented the movies from being misunderstood. take kubricks’ clockwork orange for an example. did hooligans all over the world get the message? i think not. and that flic was back in 71. still, and for a reason, it is a classic in contemporary cinema. why? because it dealt with a subject. with reality. and reality is brute. and so is justice’s video. face it. the anger, the violence shown is nothing new. not to france, not to anywhere else. but after the burning cars are extinguished .. what happens? a press conference? GTFOH.
i believe its their statement to the paris riots. and their disgust to a president who celebrates honeymoon with his hot new wife in full public instead of taking care of his business. his country.
any thoughts?
